What is Google Trends?

Google Trends [trends.google.com] is a website where you can see statistics of searches performed on Google, in particular trends of certain terms being searched more or less with the passage of time in the search engine.

A Google Trends page showing a graph comparing the terms Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. At the start of the graphic, Facebook had the highest volume of search, but at the end it became second place, Youtube first. TikTok grew from almost nothing in the last five years and is now almost above Twitter. Instagram kept a stable third place. The final positions are: Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
